Throughout the year, students worked to create their own legacy projects. One such project was the creation of an HWS Leads certificate program for incoming graduate students. This program is designed to prepare graduates for leadership roles in a variety of settings. Students will be able to gain experience in a variety of community organizations while developing their leadership skills.

Another legacy project was the Graduate Centennial Scholars program. This initiative was designed to recognize 100 master’s and doctoral graduates for their outstanding professional achievements and dedication to the University. Students were nominated for the scholarship by their academic programs.
The Graduate School is also launching three Centennial Fellowships for incoming Master’s and Doctoral students. The fellowships are funded through a gift by The Duke Endowment and are designed to attract top graduate student candidates during the admissions process. A committee comprised of faculty members from the Colleges and Schools and led by the Dean’s Office will review nominations.
